Game of Life

Its a crazy funny world
Where people put others in pain
for them to stay sane
So you’ve got to stay
Always one step
ahead of the game…
Laugh all you want
Cry till you’re free
Dream till you can’t sleep…
Live for the simplest of things
pushing all your expectations away
But live life for you
and no one else
Chuck away a friend who dumped you
mourn and find another…
There’s nothing more special
than this moment now…
If someone tries to push you around
smile and grow roots
far into the ground
You are stronger than you look
Love like you’ve never loved before
Don’t be afraid of being hurt
Its all part of being Human
All part of the game called Life

This one is for Jingle’s Thursday Rally ๐Ÿ™‚

Reminded me of something (i think) Mark Twain said : “Dance like no one’s watching, sing like no one’s listening, love like you’ve never been hurt and live like it’s heaven on earth”

it’s very difficult to go through that phase when you’re hurt but once you come out of it, you’ll be a stronger and a more mature person.
Respect others but always live for yourself. You deserve to be happy. Thank you for the thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚

Your words echo so much truth. Often we find ourselves in pain, given by others we care for. Sometimes we need to read poetry like this to realize that we can still smile and be happy. You’re right, we should live only for ourselves and no one else.

I sometimes get the feeling that we should love, but we should never trust. Maybe most of our disappointments stem from the fact that we trust others so much, and when they disappoint us, we feel shattered. Maybe loving without expecting is the way to go, because at least we’ll be prepared for every disappointment, as we would never expect anything in the first place.

Anyways sorry about my ranting. Just that lately I’ve been forced to think about such things and your poem really struck a chord in me. Thank you for sharing.

i enjoyed ur comment…nope ur not ranting!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
“I sometimes get the feeling that we should love, but we should never trust.”
wen you love someone, automatically trust them so much…whether u want to or not…and yes we are broken wen that trust is broken…of all, i tink a broken trust wreaks the most pain……but witout trust love cannot survive…
i get what you mean…loving witout expecting is very hard…
      hope ur ok…

Well done, Hoiden! We take the good with the bad and still embrace and enjoy Life. This is so positive and cheerful … and I do love the illustration.

The poem puts me in mind of the 19th century Scottish writer, Thomas Carlyle, “The tragedy of life is not so much what [wo]men suffer, but what they miss.”

    Wonderful work. Poem on ….

    Dream till you canโ€™t sleepโ€ฆ
If someone tries to push you around
    smile and grow roots
    far into the ground

Beautiful words of friendly advice. I loved the idea of filling your head with so many dreams that you can’t sleep at night. I’d love to replace my thoughts with dreams. And there is no turn the other cheek preaching just a simply stand tall and steady your balance. I ate it up the whole lot of it! Spectacularly handled.

    “live life for you”
my favorite line and a lesson I keep trying to teach myself.

    Thank you for the poem.

Love the poem! Life is truly a cat a mouse game we play with ourselves, so many contradicting emotions, it is funny to look back and think about what we have been upto..
