Rest

The waves crashed against the cliff

The wind whipped her long black hair

Reminiscing about the ages she lived thro

As she stood waiting

For the golden rays of the sun…

So many centuries…so many identities…I thought about my life as it was since the beginning…Flashes of it came to the fore…

An attendant in the court of King John, fleeing with the Romanovs during the Russian revolution, Watching the beheading of Queen Marie Antoinette, Watched the first play of Shakespeare come alive, the American revolution, paid a visit to Dr. Livingstone in Africa, been the wife of the Caliph of Persia and the mother of another, witnessed the sufferings of soldiers as a military nurse in WWII, paid homage at the passing of Mahatma Gandhi… it was a long list

I was tired. Tired of constantly moving from place to place changing my identity. Tired of constantly having to look over my shoulder. I was tired of watching the farce of human evolution. I was ready to let go and sleep.

My only regret was… Nikolai…But I guess it is for the best. If he knew how much I loved him, he would never let me go. And he deserved someone better than the world weary Queen of the damned.

The waves were already tinged pink at the horizon. I could feel my skin burning even now. Gritting my teeth, I watched my first sunrise in over a millennia.

And there she stood

Frozen for a second in time

Till the wind blew her ashes

Into the sea

Hidden in the shadows of the trees, Nikolai watched the beatific smile that lit up her face before her body turned to dust. “I will always love you…Sleep well Zoya”

Dust thou art And to dust thou returnest

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A glimpse of heaven

A week ago:

It was evening and mum and i went upstairs to take the clothes, which had been  hung out to dry on the line. but this is what we spent half an hour admiring

what does it look like????

the light shining down...

Cap on a cloud...

the vibgyor...

the silver lining to being stuck at home with nothing to do is that i’ve started appreciating the finer points of nature…very zen!!!

On a winter’s morn

On a fine winter’s morning
My truck broke down on a lonely road
I wandered into a cherry grove
Calling out for a helping hand
There I saw the most beautiful sight
That my eyes had ever held….
Sitting on a rock lost in her world
She was strumming away
The breeze blowing her sun-kissed hair
The strains of guitar filled the air
She looked up as I got closer
A question in her sparkling eyes
I asked for her help
With my heart beating wild
‘Sure’ she said putting down her guitar
She pulled her hair back into a braid
Went down on her knees
And fixed my truck
It was time I said goodbye
But I dint want to leave
I stowed my fear and asked
If I could see her sometime
She nods and waves me away
And it has been four years since
But our love is fresh
Since that fine winter’s day

Loneliness

Days keeps whizzing by

From the crack of dawn

Till the end of the day

Seems filled with fun and laughs

It looks as though

There’s nothing more

I could ever want

All you see is my smile

Not the loneliness hiding below

I try just so hard

Riding up and down

the rollercoaster of life

But I’m always alone

As the sun goes down

I pick up the pieces

and go on home…

In the valley

Valley so green
Between mountains gray and white
Bathed in the fresh morning sun
Brought a thrill indescribable
Awakening the splendor and beauty
The fiery sun giver of life swirling
To the songs of nature
Seems small and insignificant
amidst the vastness of he sky
Mist creeping in with a mischievous play
Shrouds the beauty
Moon coming out into the inky sky
Cast a pearly glow over everything
Divine but mysteriously so
Birds of light take flight in the sky
To the twinkling sisters above
While the creatures of the day slumber on
Unaware of the beauty around
